Marble has always been the most beautiful person in the room and when properly finished and placed, whether on the floor, countertop and wall, it will make eyes pop.
It’s important to recognize the different types of marble available to be installed in your home, each offering a different look and feel. One might be better than the other, which is why it’s important to familiarize yourself with the different looks before you make your final decision.
Consider Breccia. Breccia is a rock composed of broken fragments of minerals or rock cemented together by a fine-grained matrix that can be similar to or different from the composition of the fragments. The word has its origins in the Italian language, in which it means either “loose gravel” or “stone made by cemented gravel.” You can likely find breccia slabs in a reddish or beige color. This warm tone can let out a very homey look.
Carrara carries a white base with gray veining and is considered the more classy marble look. There’s something about the sleekness of white that shouts pure luxury and it will surely bring life to your room.
Limestone is not usually attributed with marble but it is actually its very own marble, found in beige or tan colors. A lot of people use limestone as countertops. As far as bathroom limestone, it’s not recommended, as the steam from a shower can cause damage to this type of sensitive, porous stone.
Cream Marfil is similar in look to limestone. True to its Spanish name, it looks like white cream and is a wonderful touch to any kitchen and bathroom. The veins within are subtle and add all the character the stone needs.
There’s a vast world of marble out there and these are just a small fragment. Before you make your decision, it’s recommended to visit any show room. Here you will get a sense of this vast world and have all the options to choose from.
